The name “Gilead,” adopted for the Publishing Company established in 1999 to publish the works of Sandra L. Butler, was chosen in recognition of her teacher, who received this name, along with thirty three years of teachings.
The word Gilead in Hebrew means heap of testimony, heap of dung, heap of stones." For some these teachings will be a heap of testimony, a witness to what they already understand from within their own heart to be true. For some they will be a heap of dung, conflicting with what they were taught through the man-made doctrines of religious Christianity. And for others still they will be the means by which they pass over into a new way of life, the 12 stones placed in the Jordan River symbolizing the spiritual process that leads us out of spiritual and physical bondage, being heaped up as a testimony to the healing properties of these 12 stones.
Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?
why than is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
Jeremiah 8:22
